Weekly Update - Feb 17th
Added 2019-02-16 16:43:17 +0000 UTCWeek number 2 babyyyy! My number of patrons literally doubled since the last one so thank you guys so much!! I hope you've been enjoying 8 Simple Rules, it should round out by the end of the month!
I got my uni timetable this week and maaaaan have I messed up. I thought I was gonna have two lots-of-work courses and two bare-minimum courses but WOOPS SURPRISE I have four lots-of-work courses. Yay me, right? Ugh.
It's not actually a big deal, just means I can't slack off as much as last semester ^^; won't change my writing or working habits so all shall be well.
Anyway, let's talk about This week in WIPS.
This week was actually a pretty slow one for once. I got focused on the two Valentine's Day fics that you've hopefully seen (if not, go read my fluff :P) so I only managed the majority of Chapter 5 of 8SR, didnt even finish the whole thing T_T It's a fun one though, on the plus side. A bit fluffier than the last, which is always nice, but still with plenty of Kacchan and Deku fumbling through their sexual experiments.
I haven't managed any work on the other WIPs this week, but I did come up with a few new ideas to add to the list, including but not limited to The First Annual Class 1-A Wet T-Shirt Contest; a choose-your-own-adventure style fic; and the following snippet in my phone notes that I wrote late one night:
Deku shows up to Kacchan's room dressed nice, finds Kacchan waiting in his underwear.
"You're not dressed? I thought you wanted to eat out tonight."
"..."
"OH."
So that'll be fun.
Goal Updates:
I posted two fics, so posting monthly is still on track, and one of my uni classes is a creative writing paper where I'll be forced (lol) to write original fiction, so hopefully that will help get me back on track with my novels!
I was reading some of my old stuff the other night and just... Man I hate reading my old work. I love my characters (they're seriously all like my children, you could ask me any question about a character and I could answer it. I'm gonna be a nightmare if anyone ever writes fanfic about my work, I'll be clenching my jaw over the inaccuracies) and I love the interaction between said characters, but sometimes I feel like there's just no real plot going on. The same complaint I had about my first IzuKatsu fic, funny enough. I still can't believe that mess got 30k views lmao.
A peek behind the curtain:
I thought this week I'd talk about my sh*tstorm of a writing process, since it's the one thing people ask me about a lot.
"How do you put out so much content so quickly?"
The short answer is that I type fast and don't plan anything. Hah.
Seriously though I really don't. I'd forgotten about Valentine's Day until about 24 hours before, and Empty Spaces was actually something I had notes that wasn't holiday related. I looked at what I had in the works and realised that one could easily become an event fic, so I changed it from a generic timeline to being right before Valentine's Day, and voila.
Okay so I hadn't actually written the fic, but at least I had the groundwork done!
Of course, after posting it, the thought popped into my head: "What if Deku has been giving Kacchan gifts as a secret admirer for their entire life, and he finally owns up to it?"
Aaaaaand I have no self-control, so "I don't like chocolate" was born. Two oneshots in the space of 48 hours. Yep, that's my life in a nutshell. When I get an idea, I run with it.
My longer fics have much more planning and plotwork of course, I have a lot of spreadsheets outlining key points to hit in each chapter, but I try not to overplan. Some of my ideas I have an entire plot summary written for, and now I don't want to write them because I feel like it's already there and finished. Gotta let the imagination run free, you know?
That's all for this week, please look forward to more 8SR coming soon, and maybe even a glimpse at the early chapters of my super-long, months-from-posting, why-do-I-do-this-to-myself fics!
I haven't figured out how I'm gonna sign these things off yet, but this week I'm feeling the "MSN Screen Name" vibe.

It's honestly the way I prefer to write lol. I have a vague idea of what I want to do so just let my fingers do the work. I don't write the story, I just own the hands
