So I got electrocuted in my apartment this Wednesday ...

There's basically no other way to sum this one up. I was working on rewiring my apartment, and for those who watch my livestreams, you know the wiring here is kinda shit. I plugged in an extension cord to an outlet in my kitchen to bypass a dead outlet in my living room. The extension cord was unplugged on the other end, and I got shocked through the insulation.

Turns out the outlets in my kitchen were not properly grounded, and almost all of my apartment was on one circuit (something I knew prior). If I had to guess, but I think I got hit by a ground loop on the floor (bare feet + tile floor).

After I realized what had happened, I called 911, and I've had a friend staying for me for the past two days. I've been basically bed rest for that entire period. I don't have any heart conditions, and reasonably decent physical health, so I should be OK. I'm mostly just having phantom pains at this point.

I'm not going to do a call for donations or ask people to up their levels, but I'm going to be on the mend for awhile, so probably no research streams for awhile. I'm going to use the opportunity to catch up on paperwork, as well as lay out new Patreon perks, and more. I'll also write up a more structured guide on how people can support me, and how I use the money raised thus far.

I guess the lesson learned here is: do not be silent when you see a safety issue. I've been nagging to my super about the wiring for two years. It caught up with me, and *thankfully*, I lived to tell the tale. I'll keep you all up to date. I'll copy this post over to social media sometime this week, but I'll mostly keep these on sponsor only channels such as Patreon and Discord.

I had that happen once while changing a light switch. Scary.

HOLY CRAP dude, get well soon!! Now I can catch up on those live streams I missed. :) Take a rest, get healthy, use this time to watch all those TechnologyConnections videos on electrical wiring and plugs and insulation you may have missed. :) His video on GFCI where he takes it apart was just awesome.
