Can you tell I've a bias towards Faery King? I love the man dearly and if you forced me to choose one of the secondary leads to focus on exclusively it would be him hands down. Close second is Vigil, but he's attached to Lucian by the hip so they're essentially interchangeable at this point.

I love FK and Lucian's dynamic so much. It's very fun both platonically and sexually. But my favorite thing to think about is that FK absolutely had no intention of falling in love, but he falls so unbelievably hard he can barely even react to it. These waves of realization crash into him at the most random of times and each time he takes his breath away. He's so unused to the sensation that he ends up taking it in shocked strides. I don't know how to articulate this, but basically he surpasses any kind of outward reaction to realizing he's in love and ends up just... acting the same. Had it been a more gradual realization, there'd be a great deal of internal conflict, monologuing, mild crises, but it because it's fast and potent, he doesn't have the time to build up that dilemma. It's just "oh fuck I'm in love, this is what love feels like and I don't even care that I built up a barrier against it, this dopamine rush feels so good I'll eschew all my ideals of relationships."
