Im mixed from s1 i think i do feel like theres sometimes i dont think the faces convey more subdued emotions aswell, like ranma or akane being disappointed. I also cant say i feel like the studios always putting as much effort into fights as they could, they have a tendency to over blur or simplify movements it feels like at times. Akanes first fight with the hentai horde felt far more stiff and less dynamic then the old show with them not doing as many fun angles or her weaving around doing as fancier of moves. There was also a few times they color shifted the scene for high speed moves that i really did not like in particular. I do hope they put more effort into doing more dynamic scenes, the yaiba remake being sorta a prime example of keeping the old flair when animating scenes with alot of movement. And honestly make the eyes and mouths abit more articulate rather then defaulting to just large movements to convey emotions

2025-08-22 19:45:58 +0000 UTCI keep saying it, but I really love the animation in the remake, Ranma was so expressive in every frame of that little fight with Ryoga on the roof top. It looks like from the trailer they've release for season 2 the animation might actually get even better soon as well, Season 1 was really successful, so they're probably investing even more into the remake now. I'm so grateful for Urusei Yatsura's remake, it's what opened the floodgates for the Ranma remake, the upcoming adaptation of her latest manga Mao, and probably some other projects they haven't announced yet. Even with everything Shampoo does in her first arc, I can't really dislike her at all, she's just genuinely a fun and charming character, though that Ryoga scene was pretty messed up lol.
