To me it's more that Pietra gained Rhydon's respect by saving it from Team Rocket and then by being able to hold on when it went on a rampage earning a battle against him to become his trainer. Still... was digging a tunnel through a mountain really your best solution to let your Grandma visit another town? lol, I mean I guess you have the Pokemon to do it so why not, but if Grandma is going to trip and hurt herself walking through the forest... isn't she probably going to do the same in the cave?
