So Lance is the first Pokemon champion we've met, which basically means he's the strongest trainer in the region having beaten the Pokemon league and leading the elite four (he's actually the Champion of both Kanto and Johto), Pokemon Champion is technically what Ash's goal is right now. Lance is ok as a champion in the games, but despite technically being the first champion he's clearly not as iconic as some of the later ones, I mean we've discussed it before, but there's a certain blonde character with a pokemon card worth several hundred dollars who's clearly more iconic lol. Part of why he's not as iconic is probably because 3 of his 6 Pokemon in the game are Dragonite, a good Pokemon... but I don't think a Champion should have three of the same Pokemon in a row.
