The pronunciation of the Japanese names hurts me a little lol. The kimono girls and their Eevee evolutions are one of the big things associated with Johto in the games, they're a lot more important in the games, they tell the history of Johto through a stage performance (Kimono girls are huge for mech as you can imagine lol, they even sell a plush of Pikachu dressed as one). Johto is based on the Kansai region of Japan, so Osaka and Kyoto, it's not as obvious at times in the anime, but that basically means its a region full of old traditions like Geisha dances and old Japanese castles. One of the most common things you'll see in artwork for the region is its autumn leaves and old tower because of that.
