I find the chains not that problematic. The Night King seems to have powers somewhat similar to the Three Eyed Raven. He could have carried the anchor chains from the coast there years ago for all I know. All part of the vision or whatever. Lure a Dragon behind the wall and obtain it. And I don't see why the undead should not be able to just walk on the bottom of the lake.

Kniffmaster

Very convenient that exactly 1 wight wasn't destroyed when its commander was killed. So Gendry sprinted at an inhuman speed though the icy landscape, breaking all the world records by a mile, managed to send off a raven (flying ~1000-1500+ miles from Eastwatch to Dragonstone), and then Dany flew maybe ~1500-1900+ miles with her dragons, activated her GPS to locate Jon and co. and managed to rescue them in time (they spent about 1 day on that lake, from what it seems), which is exactly how long it took for the lake to freeze over again, north of the Wall, in winter? Not many people found that to be plausible when this episode aired :D I don't dislike the thought of the conclusion to the "spear thrown at dragon" storyline being that a magical supercreature used a magical ice spear with his inhuman powers to finally achieve a kill. That sounds like a good enough finale for that part of the story to me. I don't get why the Night King didn't go after Drogon though, since he was on the ground at the time and that would have both given him the dragon corpse he desired and prevented the rescue from being successful. This is also when people completely stopped worrying about Jon, because he has obviously obtained god-level plot armor. He should've been dead here, there is no reasonable explanation for his survival after emerging from a frozen lake after a "professional diver" amount of time underwater and then riding off on a horse to literally become a human popsicle in the way-below-freezing temperature. And what the fuck was he doing in the first place, venturing out so much just to kill a few undead? Pure idiocy. Not the best writing thus far in this episode, all in all. Still entertaining though. Let's see what's in store going forward :)
