Everyone expects nobility and royalty to be among the best and don't consider commoners or the ones from the forsaken realm for a moment. When I saw this episode I did not think that Luck had a healthy relationship with his mother, especially with the tone of the flashback. He wanted her approval and beating a noble was how he found out how to get it.
