Soul Eater has a lot of these problems. I love the art style, the characters are fun and quirky, and the premise is interesting (including the stuff with the Kishin). But the writing is sloppy and no one can convince me otherwise.

2022-03-18 01:40:38 +0000 UTCOne thing thing they try really hard to sell in this episode and it doesn't stick at all, the whole 'this magic tool is pure evil, why would Death have anything to do with this?!' It's...it's an eternally running spring and key...there was nothing evil about it or the train, the train never terrorized anyone nor was there a haunted crew like the Black Dragon. You could probably USE the invention in an evil way, but that doesn't make it evil to begin with. Idk, just a very odd choice for establishing a connection between Death and Eibon and trying to make us believe Death's intentions aren't all benevolent
