I mentioned a theory I'd had that Grimmer ended up in 511 Kinderheim because he watched the Magnificent Steiner which was I West German TV series that could be tuned into from East Germany. And was thus considered a political dissident for that reason alone. (Not uncommon under Soviet rule). When I made that prediction I hadn't seen this episode, so when I finally did see it, I was amazed that he was arrested before he was able to see the final episode. I don't know if it really validates my theory, but it comes pretty damn close. Also when we first met Lunge, could you have ever imagined he'd one day apologize to Tenma?

This was probably the most painful episode for me in this show. But Wolfgang Grimmer became one of my favourite characters ever after this.

I am sad... I am not sad that I am dying... I am finally sad that my child died.... Grimmer is one of the most amazing characters in all of anime. His started off a emotionless man and slowly was able to sense the importance of feelings. Then at the end just like the Magnificent Steiner he returned to being human. Now Wolfgang Grimmer has finally reunited with his child. Rest In Peace 🙏
