This episode is one of the most memorable in the series. The special ending credits that resembles an older movie is just a cherry on top to signify how special this episode is and really drive home how fucked this episode is. But don't worry this is probably the lowest point in the first season, lowest meaning how dark it gets, the up coming pay off will be amazing particularly episode 18 can be debated to be the best episode in the season so look forward to it

The scene at the end is what really solidified this show as great for me. The setting of the scene when Subaru just falls to his knees cause he's been broken over and over, and with Puck's true form rising out of the mansion, the biting cold freezing him to death again and the credits rolling with that hauntingly sad sountrack as his head lops off his corpse. I honestly wish there was no after credits of him restarting, would've just increased the impact of the ending

Yea never before has anyone antagonized Subaru to the level the Bishop of Sloth just did to him. Now he not only just figured out what this route's big obstacle is but now he has some real big motivation to take that obstacle down. Also I would explain Sloth asking why Subaru had such a deep love but I'm pretty sure the season will answer that.

Oh yeah, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka has a great voice and does a lot of great rolls! Hes Kirito in SAO, Sora in NGNL, Inosuke in Demon Slayer, Soma in Food Wars, Marge hair (Teriku) in Mob Psycho 100, just a bunch of solid rolls 👌 But Betelgeuse is easily one of his best voices, he just brings the perfect tone of insanity

So ya probably forgot but the big monster at the end was puck, you would have seen it in the frozen bond, tjo from what I remember when the anime 1st aired that scene was the 1st time we actually saw that form, also you are kinda right when you said does dying give him more options at the end, it does give him more options, but its more like cause he's playing thru the scenario multiple times he can choose different options to reach the happy end, let's give an example of what I mean, let's say it's starts at Point A, and Subaru dies at point B, cause he knows what's gonna happen at Point B he can then in Point A try to find a detour that could lead him to Point C instead of reach Point B again, I hope that makes sense.

the directors cut ends at episode 13 (1A and 1B +24 subsequent episodes) which is the end of season one, season 2 was split up with episode 1-13 coming out in fall 2020 and 14-25 coming out in January to march of this year

one of the things i love is that over these last few episodes, not one person who has insulted Subaru has been wrong, it really shows the disparity between the people of lugunica who have established person from the moment they are born and someone like Subaru from our world who just cozies along in life
