THIS SUCKS SO MUCH! - One Piece #808

The things Luffy was saying to Sanji at the end there are some of the most heart wrenching lines in all of one piece. I tear up every time I see that’s scene. We’ve been with these charters for so long now and we know them all so well Especially Luffy and it’s so impactful, and the voice acting this episode sold it so well

That song at the end of that episode is the first ending song of One Piece back in 1999/2000. It's called Memories by Maki Otsuki.

I think his argument with Usopp helped him grow a bit in that regard, or at least i'd like to believe so. Because at that time Luffy was absolutely dogshit at reading situations

Sanji fooled everyone with that act, except for Luffy.(and possibly Reiju) He knew something was preventing Sanji from rejoining his group and so he more or less said, do what you gotta do and I'll be here waiting for you. Luffy knows how to read situations better than some give him credit for. It also shows his wish to become King of The Pirates is not borne from greed, pride, or a desire for power, but rather a passionate dream he wants to journey through with people he considers his friends.

The way Luffy's voice cracks when he says that he can't become the Pirate King without Sanji is just WOW. Up there with "I want to live" in voice acting for me.

After what he felt and how hard it was for Luffy to duel against Usopp, it’s understandable why Luffy would never want to legitimately fight a crew mate ever again
