Like the sister mentioned, the genetic modifications of the three also included the removal of emotions, which means that they're not the way they are because they're inherently evil, they are supposed to operate on pure logic. And yet they act like assholes anyway. Really reinforces the fact that people develop purely due to outside influences, they were always told what was expected of them and what they were made for, and that is to be superior to everyone else. The lack of emotions literally prevents them from developing any kind of moral compass, they couldn't redeem themselves even if they wanted to. Its an interesting look into that kind of mind, even though i do believe Oda went a bit TOO crazy with making them bullies, because it seems to showcase a level of enjoyment they get out of torturing others, which realistically they shouldn't be able to.

2021-07-02 15:04:29 +0000 UTCNot explaining who/what/where/when/why/how, but Reiju mentioned in the flashback that the boys (minus Sanji) were altered to additionally have no emotions and that she was only given the physical enhancements. So these douchebags don't even necessarily "enjoy" what they do to Sanji, but keep beating him up anyway. Also, we see how kind Sanji's mother and sister (relative to everyone else) are to him and that has since been my head-cannon reasoning for why Sanji is so infatuated with the ladies and is so dismissive of other guys.
