The story goes no one knows the true identity of the man in the mask, but it’s been highly speculated that it was an illegitimate older brother of King Louis XIV. So this man was imprisoned in 1669 and was moved around a few French prisons at the time including Bastille and a prison in current day Italy. Unfortunately the man died in prison 34 years later in 1703.
