WHAT A FUCKING DAY!!
Added 2021-07-20 00:31:23 +0000 UTCThis morning, while making Nay's breakfast, our microwave quit. I grumbled about having to go buy another... That was nothing.
This afternoon, the linked devastation hit...and my fucking sump pump QUIT!!
My water heater was underwater - fortunately we got a pump before it got to my boiler - and now I will be up all night, turning the pump on and off every half hour or so until Home Depot opens in the morning so I can get a new sump pump!
Then I will have to determine if I can save my water heater or if I'll be installing a new one of those, too! 😡😡
Sometimes life is a douchebag! 😄

I fortunately live in the Chicago area and have all those Sears appliances from back in the day. They don’t make them like they used to, I had a sears water heater that lasted my parents over 25 years. Then got one in 2016 that broke this year. Times are changing man haha

We recently replaced it with a sewage pump because I thought why not and that actually had made a huge difference, might be worth looking into. As for the microwave you could probably rob a college student cause from my experience in dorms they have no idea how to use a microwave properly. You have no idea how many times I had to evacuate my dorm at like 2am in the freezing northeast winter because some idiot couldn't tell their popcorn was done from the smoke cloud.

A couple weeks ago the HVAC went out, it was old, and the repair guys said patching it up was pretty much just delaying the inevitable as it would probably bust against shortly after so I had to buy a new one. Man those things are expensive, although it should be good for another 20 years or so. The few days it took to get replaced were not fun though with the heat we've been getting.
