But if he starts as a heavyweight in Japan, with practically no local competition, he would never even get an international match and the intervalls between matches would be even worse than in the middleweight division. He'd be approaching 30 before his first world title match, having fought dozens of the same local guys and only a few international opponents. IF he even got one in the first place, since the Kamogawa gym doesn't have the finances to pull in any opponents of worth if they aren't interested. A shitty situation all around. Incidentally, that's why Takamura got a jr. middleweight title match, even though he only competed as a middleweight before going international. He just didn't get any offers for middleweight matches...
