I was ready to be REALLY pissed at Usopp! I gotta admit, even though he's quivering, I'm impressed by his willingness to fight!

I still think Luffy should have just kept Sogeking on his crew instead of Usopp after Enies Lobby. He's a far better sniper and much more reliable.

An important thing to take note with Usopps personality in this episode is it's his personality before he ever met Robin. Robin doesn't exist in his mind. Which means he has no recollection of going to Enies Lobby to get Robin back. Which means he doesn't remember ever becoming Sogeking. That progression during Enies Lobby with Sogeking was taken away the moment he lost his memories of Robin. So, Usopp reverted back to Usopp of old.

Usopp through the whole series has always come through. Never doubt Usopp, doubting him is like doubting Luffy and he doesn't invite losers to his crew. Wait or was it Lucy and Usolando? This is hard...

Just remember: Usopp always lies. But Usopp's lies ALWAYS eventually come true. He lied about being a hero, now here he is.. becoming a hero. He lied about being a decedent of Noland, but I'd bet money that Usopp is going to inherit the will of Noland by the end of the series.

I disagree with one thing, and that is your use of character development. Character development is one of the most important parts of a character, but it’s not what everyone thinks it is. Character development is a characters history, their personality, their beliefs. Everything that is there from day one, that is character development. What you and so many other people are actually talking about, is character progression. That is when a character goes from point a to point b. While progression is also important, it’s nowhere nearly as important as character development. And I would argue that all of the Straw Hats are extremely well developed.

Usopp is the MVP

As someone who has been in Usopp's corner for the entirety of this show, always understood why he was the way he was, but THIS was the one episode i really got pissed at him. It was genuinely hard to watch. And yes there is plenty of explanation and reasoning for why he acted the way he did, all of it legitimate, but at the bottom line he still remembered all of the Little Peoples resolve and reasonings, he knew he lied to them and got himself into that situation, and he still ran and nearly left them to die. Stuff like that is why i'm so harsh on Oda and his downright awful character development, there is SO much that could be done with Usopp's character but its all thrown aside so the same gag of him getting scared at his own shadow could be repeated for hundreds and hundreds of episodes.

Usopp wasn't even there for most of enies lobby Sogeking was. But in all seriousness that does explain a bit of it especially if he didn't realize the situation with Robin and how he learned that he can step up and be of value fighting because that was what he was struggling with at time. If he forgot Robin he would have forgotten that particular adventure and his lesson learned there.

Usopp isn't going to die but if he does then the little people are gonna build a lovely statue of him. So there is that.

What's interesting (and confusing) is that the world's memories of people turned into toys are lost. If Usopp doesn't remember Robin, does he remember the events of Enies Lobby, where he had a lot of development and growth?

Claps for Usopp everyone he's stepping up. And was epic for the last ten seconds.
