I don't know enough Japanese to judge, but it's possible certain phrases or wording are simply different or being translated from Japanese differently.

2021-01-08 15:43:19 +0000 UTCSo I've looked up boxing terminology, because you bring that up a lot, and it seems to slightly differ from source to source, but generally, a "cross" seems to be a straight right (for orthodox boxers), meaning a "one-two combo" is a jab and a cross. It's called a cross because it is usually used to counter an enemy's jab, which makes the arms cross in the middle between the opponents. Whether it HAS to be a straight seems up for debate, and maybe in Ippo they don't consider it a cross as long as no jab is countered with it. I don't think there's a "boxing dictionary" though, so maybe there are slight differences in terminology across the globe. Who knows😅 I'm definitely not an expert^^

Dare I say, you may even hate him😉 I also think you may be interested in this tidbit, as a former boxer: The Klitschko brothers' mom always used to go on long walks when one of their fights started. Then, after the fight, the brother who didn't fight used to call her right away to tell her the outcome. The two were also offered absurd amounts of money to fight each other, especially during their prime when they completely reigned over the heavyweight class and had all the belts, but they never accepted. I think their mom said that was not even a possibility for her or her sons.
