An unexpected loss like this is something difficult to mentally absorb for athletes sometimes. How will it effect Miyata?

Bro the show does such a great way of making me care for ippo’ s opponents. Except for the later ones...

Good analogy. 😊

That’s cool!

"I'm happy for Ippo but you can't help but feel bad for Miyata" This is one of the best things about how this show does fights. Things are rarely black and white, everyone has a reason for fighting and in this show you get to feel the bittersweet loss just as much as the grand victory.

Cains

Miyata lost but he fought against a hand-crafted strategy and training regiment from the Chief, whom Miyata's father respects, as well as a freak boxer. Having experienced so many new things, for a person who spent his whole life in boxing, can only make him better. Miyata lost because he underestimated Ippo in the First Round and took too much damage, he was too arrogant. Next time, he will be a much more difficult opponent for Ippo, having already seen his Uppercut and short uppercut. I like to think of this kind of Rivalry like the one between Ichigo and Kenpachi. You may have beat him once, but that doesn't mean you can do it again.

I love how Miyata wasn't able to stand back up, but casually left the ring moments after Ippo was declared the winner. I always found it funny. Great fight!

Some people lose and fall into depression, others use it as motivation to come back stronger. You'll see with a lot of Ippo's opponents they usually get motivated to get better.

WHOLESOME DEUS

Poor Miyata... he lost to a lucky punch just like his dad did and had to retire
