I realize this is an old upload so idk if Curtis will see it, but for anyone peruses the comments: Abdullah the Criminal was heavily inspired by the pro wrestler Abdullah the Butcher, the former even including the latter's forehead scars. Abdullah the Butcher had a career spanning five decades and wrestled in numerous territories in North America, as well as promotions in Japan and the Caribbean. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 for his contributions to pro wrestling. Someone already said it, but Oda is a huge wrestling nerd.

If you think about it, Oda makes his characters with appropriate personalities to match their Abilities. Just looking at Bartomelo, you can tell that he wants to provoke others into attacking him, rather than being the aggressor, implying that he is a counter type. Meaning, he actually needs to dress and behave that way to be effective.

Bartomelo has a few cards up his sleeves no doubt and honestly it’s kind of funny how oda also makes his character a bit of a joke as well.
