on a rewatch u notice that "alan" never calls the armor giant by name, and the armor giant only says gowther when thinking about alan, u assume hes dumb so hes talking in third person

I have a feeling you'll like Guila before too long, Curtis. She's just a big sister who'll murder anyone who even thinks of harming her little brother. And I think you can appreciate that. Also, she hot as fuck. I'd forgotten how fast paced this anime was. They really trimmed down the unnecessary bits. Speaking of, they slightly changed Gowther's Alias in the anime. The manga had a group of kids in town who role played the Seven Deadly Sins, and Gowther was acting as a member of the group named Armando, the Goat Sin. The leader of the kids and 'Armando' tagged along with the real Sins, getting a bit too close to the Armor Giant, which tried to flatten the leader. 'Armando' took the hit and played dead among the corpses of the other Holy Knights that surrounded him to be in position to block the inevitable sneak attack from the Giant's blindspot. Also, if I recall correctly, the speech bubbles Gowther speaks with are the same as the Narrator's, so when they did a few pages panning over the reactions of all the other character before the big reveal, the audience assumes that the narrator is telling you how no one could believe what was happening before finally it's shown that Gowther was talking the whole time.
