Regardless of how strong the strawhats have gotten, they are completely out of their element in the sea, fishmen are stronger than humans 10x by default, devil fruit powers are weakened by the sea and as a cherry on top, the doofus tag team has the steroid drugs that double their power with each one. Im guessing its simply due to the personalities and the way they were portrayed that you just don't think Hordy and the others stand a chance against the new strawhats, because theres a mountain of evidence that theres reason to be concerned about engaging these new antagonists
