It's completely unfair, Barragan was alive and the King of Hueco Mundo before the Soul Reapers even had Zanpakutos, he is millions of years old and only 2 beings had challenged his power, Ikomikidomoe (Hollow Zanpakuto) that tried to eat the Soul King and Aizen, who is trying to replace the Soul King.

Nothing wrong with liking Gin, he's been my favorite from the start. He's a dick, but I relate to that. Tousen, on the other hand, is a self righteous bastard who can't even back up his shit talk.It's just justice this, justice that, gets cut in half by Zaraki.

Honestly, with his backstory and his position, it’s no wonder Barragan hates soul reapers and Aizen- Soul reapers are constantly murdering his citizens indiscriminately and Aizen basically enslaved his people Makes you wonder how Barragan would’ve reacted to Ichigo, someone who tries to spare Arrancars/not murder them just for existing

A reminder of how Aizen's Zanpakuto works: He needs to perform a release in front of someone, after which they will forever be under the control of his complete hypnosis. That's what he did and it's one of many reasons why he was from then on absolutely undefeatable for Baraggan. Edit: Removed something potentially spoilery ;)

love that gin is growing on you whether you like it or not. by the end of the show you will love him siiiiiiiir.

Yeah, I did feel for the king at the end there. Just a little. Dude had everything taken from him, forced into the servitude of a smug douche, and then couldn’t even get his revenge. Still, I never shed a tear for that guy dying.

The fact that Barragan, who is basically the Bleach equivalent to the Grim Reaper, last words were that he will chase Aizen forever, just before he fades away without managing to actually reach Aizen, is some really cool symbolism, as well as foreshadowing for what's to come.
