As I mentioned, I had no idea what to expect from Higurashi... Now that I've seen episode 1, I am delightfully freaked out!

I would have loved to see this series as one of the daily shows, because the story is so... let's call it "complex", that it's hard to follow. Even if you watch one episode per day. Also, personally I would have liked a reaction to the original series, since this new "version" of it is not a remake as far as I've read. But all that aside, I'm still looking forward to every episode of it once a month. ;)

2020-10-26 16:33:14 +0000 UTCOh this first episode is almost exactly like how I remember the original's first episode, the main difference is the artstyle is brighter and cleaner (the original was from 2006). It's cool that the voice actors are reprising their roles and the old music is being used so it feels very familiar. Higurashi was one of the earliest animes I binge watched through because it had so much suspense, intrigue and "WTF!?" moments.

Quick question to everyone else who's seen the older series. How are we feeling about the first two minutes of episode two? On the one hand, knowing about that from jump will probably make it a bit easier for Curtis to get what's going on, but on the other, it just kinda feels wrong to casually bring up the biggest twist in the series.

2020-10-25 18:11:46 +0000 UTCI saw this when I was about 12 or 13 years old, I was definitely not prepared. The construction of a dam would be a very big deal in Japan. Especially back in 1980s, real estate is always hard to come by when you consider the population to area ratio. Also yes you are right, Mion (the girl with the Green hair and club leader) is wearing a shoulder holster. The gun is a either an air-soft gun or a non-functioning toy I can't remember which. P.S. I am so hyped that they used the original opening theme in this episode. That theme had a huge part in creating the creepy atmosphere. Not using it would've been criminal.

It's not nearly a good as some other, but whenever I hear it, I just get chills and a sensation like someone is watching me. INCREDIBLY suitable for the anime.
