I know this arc gets a lot of hate (some of it fair) but when the chapter for this part in the manga came out, I lost my mind, it was so cool. Ichigo not only getting his powers back but an upgraded look? Yes, please!

I really hope they either cut a bunch of stuff from the Blood War when they animate it, or add a bunch of anime-exclusive stuff to flesh things out. Though if Bleach had ended with Ichigo losing his powers, then maybe a flash forward of an older looking Rukia welcoming somebody to the Soul Society (Ichigo after he eventually passes) that would have been the best possible ending imo.

This moment was basically what outright ruined this arc for me, pacing issues and the arc in general not really standing up to the previous ones aside, the fact that after so many brutal fights that built him up and the soul shattering decision to lose his power to beat Aizen Ichigo just gets all this immense power handed to him really rubs me the wrong way (and not the good kind of bad rubbing unfortunately). To make matters worse, this arc is the one the show basically ended on, so all in all it left a very bad taste in my mouth. Thankfully, the final arc in the manga, despite having a shitty and rushed ending in and of itself, made up for it.

Credit where it's due, they are evil fucking assholes, but Ginjo and Tsukishima's plan DID work. They were home free. Unlucky for them that Rukia always holds an uno reverse card just in case. Also Ichigo was pretty awesome here, he didn't tap in to any hidden power or awaken anything new, but he kind of "earned" this second chance by being willing to stand up and fight them both as a normal human before Rukia turned up.

I love the whole "Your getsuga tenshou is far more powerful than before, but it wont be enough to kill me." "That wasnt a getsuga tenshou, that was just me slashing my sword." Thing. It is a nice way to say that his current shikai entirely outclasses his old bankai... Then again, this is what happened when he regained his spirit energy after becoming the most powerful being we know of in the franchise, it should have some perks. (Btw i said the most powerful being we know of, as he was more powerful than Aizen, but Aizen would become more powerful if he wanted to.)

Ichigo breaking down and crying sucked man.. Even before when Ulquiorra showed the massive difference in strength between them he never broke down like that. It hurt seeing him at such a low. But then the biggest badasses in the soul society show up "in my opinion" and say they put all their energy into that blade and it makes for a chilling moment.
