Oh so in the episode they said that mihawk has one of the 12 greatest made blades in the world. This is never stated in the anime but that blade whitebeard uses is also one of the 12 strongest blades

Mihawk attacking Whitebeard with something so casual he didn’t even name his attack, something that almost every character in One Piece feels obligated to do. It’s almost impossible not to respect Mihawk for being able to become undoubtedly recognized as the world’s strongest swordsman in a world full of people with some insanely powerful or weird devil fruit powers on top of them having access to regular weapons like anyone else.
