2020-06-15 17:38:15 +0000 UTCBut on a different note, i really gotta praise the show for giving Issei a valuable and legit reason to be somewhat dense as the protagonist, unlike pretty much every other harem anime where the protag is basically asexual for no reason. Issei legitimately went through traumatizing events, being toyed with, manipulated and then murdered by a girl he was crushing on, which then afterwards kidnapped and killed one of his friends and manipulated him even further after he became a devil. For a regular person, that'd be a lifetime of trauma, so props to the show for running with that plotline

2020-06-15 15:01:54 +0000 UTCAs much as the dub of this show can make me laugh, i really can't say i prefer it at all, simply due to the fact it kinda ruins the serious moments and scenes. What makes DxD so unique in the sea of harem anime, indeed what has it dubbed as the King of harem anime, is the fact that it genuinely manages to balance the comedy, the ecchi and the seriousness within it. The dub amps the comedy up to 1000, and with certain characters (Koneko specifically, i know in-universe he's dead but God bless Koneko) it works really well, but it also gets rid of 90% of the serious aspects of the show, even the fights are littered with comedic expressions. Imo it just ruins that really nice balance the show has in the sub, and while that only really shows in a few episodes, its still big enough to be noticeable.

2020-06-15 14:48:56 +0000 UTCRandom thing I realized about the game: The game can only be won by beating the king or surrender I think so they can't win without beating Sairaorg regardless of how hard it is to roll a 12. However being a 12 Sairaorg can never be in a team since his point value is the highest value. Rias could team with a Knight or Bishop, Sairaorg can't. Disrespectful as it might be the numbers are based on their previous showings and stuff, so its really just fair. Do you think Rias could beat Sairaorg 1 v 1? :) Or rather its unfair to Sairaorg since they actually handicap his team to make for a better entertainment event. Because he's stronger they can't let him be used as easily? Buh. Handicaps for being too strong in a fighting tournament? Now thats just wrong. And now lets say night night to mister knight knight!

But if we actually treats things as if they were real: Yea, having the first girl ever to show interest in you viciously murdering you, deceiving you, mocking you and hurting and killing the people you love and still trying to deceive you to the end would be traumatizing as hell. Trust issues wouldnt even begin to cover it. Its nice if he can get over it but if that happened to someone in real life there's fair chance they'd be severely traumatized for life. But let's all appreiciate the fact that this is a Harem show where the mc is a dense and indecisive idiot that never takes action FOR AN ACTUAL REASON. Most Harem peotaginsts were just born that way. This show actually explains it! Major points.
