Just a quick reminder about Blackbeard: His devil fruit ability makes him insanely vulnerable to pain. What might feel like a slap in the face to a normal person could feel like a haymaker to Blackbeard. But just because he FEELS the pain at such a higher level, doesn't mean he can be taken out easier... quite the contrary, he's got more endurance than just about everyone you've seen in One Piece, combined.

Curtis, you noticed how it appeared that Blackbeard couldn't take a single punch from Luffy without keeling over in pain, that is because of Blackbeards Fruit, while it's definitely one of the most powerful fruits out there, it has a side effect of greatly diminishing his pain tolerance.

While he’s definitely antagonistic because he’s opposing Luffy I love how Magellan isn’t really evil. He’s just a guy trying to do his job he was tasked with to the best of his ability, enough so that he even thought about the future Impel Down and genuinely considered Hannyabal a competent member of the Impel Down staff
