LUFFY SWINGING ON BLACKBEARD IS GONNA MAKE THINGS INTERESTING! - One Piece #446

Comments

The backstory of Magellan and Hannybayal reminds me of Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc XD

DevilJynx

this is why Hannyabel is my favorite character from this arc. He knew he was outmatched in all levels and yet he still fought to the very end and yet he still fought with everything he had. As a Military man, yes believe it or not I'm a military man, I salute the vice warden. (please don't ask me about my military career, it's a private subject)

Aidan

Blackbeard = THANOS LEVEL VILLAIN Luffy ain’t ready to take on those kind of Villians LOL ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Brother E

Blackbeard really came through for Buggy there, getting rid of the same door that he had been cussing at. Though it's too bad that we take all these detours away from our main character Captain Buggy D. Clown. Luffy certainly does seem to like punching first, asking questions later.

Tyler

Yeah, the lit cannon fuses would be badass. Maybe he can get a dentist or something

Gigamac24

yeah, I'm not sure, I believe it gets better though.

Gigamac24

What's going on? The subtitles are getting worse and worse. Did they hire a temp for this arc or something? xD

Aeco

I really hope Oda changes Blackbeard's appearance towards the end of his story arc to look closer to the real life Blackbeard. Maybe a little slimmer (can keep the beer gut), longer beard, lit cannon fuses in his hair/beard and more guns strapped to him. Nothing against his current design, I just think there is nothing more intimidating than the actual Blackbeard.

Miasimon

You know looking back Ace vs Blackbeard kind of reminds of the fight from food wars between Hayama (spice boy) and Hisako (secretary girl), One is earnestly aiming for the top while one is content working under someone else. And like Hayama, Blackbeard wasn't going to lose to someone content with playing second-fiddle.

Mighty Snake

But he has been on Whitebeard's crew like 20+ years, why did it take him that long to start making his own crew. What did he need the Yami Yami no Mi for? (Has the reason for that specific fruit even been explained at all?)

V_VMat

So basically the way to defeat Blackbeard is to use the ancient art of DODGE, DODGE, ATTACK. Blackbeard is a Dark Souls boss confirmed?

Lewd Angel

I cant help liking blackbeard. None of this is personal, in very much the same way luffy is a guy with a dream, so is blackbeard. It even seems to be the same dream. Blackbeard has just planned out the most efficient path to his goal. That included taking down Ace or Luffy, so that is what he did. He even seems to be creating a crew in a way that mirrors luffy.

Miklar Sihn

I wouldnt say he acknowledges it, Luffy isnt really listening or giving that any thought as far as I can tell. I dont think he's saying he knows the consequences and allowing them rather than just not thinking of the consequences at all. I dont think Luffy understands what he's doing.

Schmul Sjifris

It doesnt matter that Luffy is a good guy. 95% of pirates aren't and they are actively helping and setting free people who by all means deserve to be there to save one person. I think this is an arc that starts showing the shades of gray actually involved in this world. What Luffy is doing isnt right from an ethical standpoint or rather what they're doing. As Hannibal said, Luffy aside, if the symbol of peace "Impel Down" is breached and loses the trust of the people then well that's like All Might in MHA just being gone. People are going to fear and despair. And if Luffy gets out of the prison with the guys that are with them now, a fair deal of them are going to murder and rape and steal from ordinary people. What Luffy is doing now is kinda "anything for love" but if one doesnt count love trumps all as a reasonable moral compass, then Luffy is clearly in the wrong here. Though to be fair, he isn't really thinking at all. Luffy has no idea what he is doing on a larger scale, but thats fine. Thats who he is, he only sees what is in front of him.

Schmul Sjifris

I mean Hanyabal is right. In the process of saving Ace, Luffy is helping release a ton of criminals and murderers. Luffy even acknowledges that and says he doesn’t care. All he wants is Ace back. So Luffy is extremely selfish. He’s definitely not the standard pure hearted protagonist.

flameenforcer619

So here's how blackbeard's fruit works if anyone was wondering. He's a logia, but due to the natural gravitation of it, all attacks that hit him will actually hurt, and actually do more damage than intended because of it. However his attacks are intangible and negate devil fruit powers.

Jonathan

I respect Hannyabel’s philosophy, he’s essentially saying that no matter what kind of pirate you are, the fact is citizens around the world can’t sleep at night due to fear that pirates could kill and take everything they love away from them. While Luffy is clearly a good guy, the public perception from the media makes him sound like a monster that is assaulting the marines (Heroes to the public) Destroying their property and attacking authority (Celestial dragons).
