Whitebeard's beat down of Akainu is one of my favourite moment in the whole series. It's not only deeply satisfying considering what Akainu just did but it shows you what a monster even the old, terminally ill and mortally wounded Whitebeard was.

Maybe a mundane observation, but I sometimes forget how much of a difference there is in the scale of some characters. The part where whitebeard lifts akainu like a child had me laughing for a second. Akainu and the admirals are like what, 7 or 8 feet tall? Then you have this mountain of a man who’s more like 20 feet tall. THEN if that weren’t enough you have San Juan Wolf who’s something like 800 feet tall. Just nuts😂

Fun fact: If not for Ace being held on the platform, this war would have been 1, maybe 2 episodes long. Whitebeard could have EASILY just sunk the entire fuckin island without leaving the comfort of his seat on his ship. But because he had to rescue Ace, he had to hold back the entire time. With Ace gone... well there's no reason to hold back.

Whitebeard, the nearly 80 year old man who is essentially on life support, had a heart attack in the middle of this war (when he stumbled right before luffy used conquerors haki), got stabbed clean through the chest, shot and stabbed the entire time by regular marine grunts, took a full attack from aokiji and shot/pierced by kizaru’s light beams, two gaping wholes in his chest by akainu’s magma fist (the same magma fist that just killed ace within seconds with 1 blow), and a solid third of his face completely melted off.... yet STILL produces enough power to start sinking an entire island, while kicking the dogshit out of that magma brat. The title “worlds strongest man” is seriously an understatement

When Whitebeard loses his stache in the anime he only loses his stache but in the manga he loses a good chunk of his face.
