A yellow belt is someone who has barely started training and many dojos don't use belt colors anyway. That's just something for the kids in training to feel an achievement when reaching the next rank ('kyu', then 'dan' as a black belt). Normally you wear a white belt until the first dan, then you wear a black belt.
