ya I thought so to but that is just how things went down. chad having it associated with his skin makes sense given how much his grandfather praised him for his naturally gifted body. He was taught to be proud of his skin and only use his natural gifts for the right people. So that is why.

Mr. Chill is my favorite of the captains (Kenpachi being a close second). However ever since episode 4 when you first get introduced to Chad and you grew to love him so quickly I have been WAITING for THIS EPISODE because of the flashback sequence about Chad and Ichigo's friendship. In general I am a sucker for plot points centered around close friends and Chad and Ichigo's friendship is one of the best. If either one is ever willing to risk their life than the other will follow no hesitation and that isn't a level of friendship most people know.

I like Mr Chill a lot here. He genuinely tried hard to avoid killing or even hurting Chad. He gives him multiple chances to leave, even after he's been attacked repeatedly, and was willing to just let him chill out with him if it meant he'd stop mowing his squad down. Not just that, but even though there is a clear canyon between there skill levels, he doesn't act like a dick about it, he is still fairly respectful, and the only level of cockiness from him seems to be him trying to get the message across to Chad that he is no match for him, without actually hurting him. Honestly just a great guy, one of my favourites.

I remember when I first saw this episode I was a little miffed that Mr.Chill dodged a punch that had so much build up. Re-watching it any punch with that much build up should at least split a planet in two...

Mr Chill as you put it (love the nickname) is one of my favorites as I probably identify with him the most. I'm a lazy bastard that likes to have fun and I prefer not to fight. And idk if you noticed because you didn't comment on it, he has two zanpakuto's while the other Captains we've seen use their sword so far only got 1. And yeah, Chad and Ichigo's backstory is very well done, I really like it.

Yachiru is best girl not waifu material in the slightest but still best girl. As for chad? well he's survived some pretty hard shit and shown his massive strength before he even got his powers so hopefully he'll be alright.
