ah now so many people can talk about Aizen without spoilers lol Yeah he wasn't the Captain that got killed offscreen for mystery sake since you've seen the next episode by now I can say nope he is the Endgame boss lol This entire arc in reality is just the intro to the main boss. You get introduced to the major players and get to power scale them. you get hyped up with the main character as he shoots towards the top and then boom. you get to see who is sitting on top with his boot firmly on the scale making things seem balanced against him till he is seen. then he lifts his foot and the scale falls from under you lol

I personally guess that it was meant to hold back Hitsugaya and that his mention of the idea of cutting her up was more to make Hitsugaya angry to make it easier to defeat Hitsugaya. If Lil whitey had just been a bit later he would have been caught up in staying by her side, therefore effectively being taken out of the fight without Aizen having to spend time on Lil whitey.

As so many have already said what a piece of shit yet awesome villain Aizen is, I'll just echo their sentiments. Aside from that, now that his true role in the series is somewhat more clear it's as good a time as any to mention his VA. Kyle Hebert also plays some characters you may remember, such as Gohan in DBZ, multiple characters in Yu Yu Hakusho, Vato Falman in Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 and Brotherhood), multiple characters including Kiba in Naruto, Ganju and Kaien Shiba in Bleach in addition to Aizen, Nefeltari Cobra (Vivi's father) in One Piece, Kamina in Gurren Lagann, Noriaki Kakyoin in Jojo, Atomic Samurai (etc) in One Punch Man, Fat Gum in My Hero Academia, and Kanamori in Demon Slayer. (incidentally, I didn't know he was also from Lake Charles until I looked him up for this list. I'm probably related to him to some extent, given that we share the name and are from the same city. How far separated, i dunno. Also, it's pronounced A-bear because of course it would have French pronunciation.)
