UPDATE ON THE NEW PATREON! DON'T JOIN!
Added 2020-04-29 12:42:21 +0000 UTCOkay, Gang... Unfortunately, the take everyone had on the new Patreon when we discussed it in the live stream is NOT the same feeling everyone has overall. It seems there's a significant number of people who do not want the separate option for the podcast/live streams...Due to this, I will be considering refunding those who have signed up there and closing it down, unless we come to some sort of different idea in here.
As far as the question as to why I was splitting it: I am going to be doing advertising for the podcast. My concern is, those who listen to the podcast and want to be a part of those recordings would not care for joining here and being inundated with messages about the latest anime releases, which is, of course, what all of us enjoy.
Secondly, when recording the podcasts at YouTube, the main issue I had was a lot of people weren't really into the topic at hand and things would end up going all over the place. This is understandable, as in our regular live streams, all bets are off, and anyone can bring up anything they like. My concern is, when recording the podcast episodes here, a lot of the conversation would be distracting to the actual objective of the podcasts, which is some good, lively political/current events debate.
I have no problem with closing the second Patreon. However, I have to be honest and let you guys know that, if I start doing podcast recordings here, and it's difficult to keep them on topic, making for a weaker podcast, I'd just have to move them to a different location. The most likely candidate for that would be my own website, but the time that would require for me might exclude it from possibility.
Please let me know your thoughts, as I'd like to begin publishing the podcasts once again, as there are a LOT of topics right now that I'd like to share with you guys.

I'm in the boat as you. I come here for anime reactions, not politics, regardless if I agree with the political stance or not. If Curtis wants to branch into political discussions, that's great. I would just want it to be separate from the anime stuff.
2020-04-29 17:59:04 +0000 UTCHonestly I don't care either way, but it would make sense to keep political podcasts away from here. While from what I've seen we are mostly on the same page politically, I try to stay as far away from this kind of stuff as I can. Because I already get flooded daily with it, and I just cannot take it anymore. I come here for some escapism, watch some anime I enjoy "together" with a guy I like and respect, and have half an hour a day without thinking about political topics that drive me deeper and deeper into isolation and depression. So yeah...personally I'd like to keep this stuff as far away from here as possible, but whatever you decide is fine with me. just my 2 cents.

2020-04-29 16:17:33 +0000 UTCThat would be my preference, My Friend, but unfortunately, I can only connect one Patreon account with the live stream provider, Crowdcast. :-(

2020-04-29 14:45:41 +0000 UTCperhaps have the podcast accessible to both patron groups? like, you can join there if you don't want the anime stuff and can join here if you do

2020-04-29 14:28:23 +0000 UTCThere is no bleed over from YouTube, as you have to be a part of THE GOOSH to gain access to the stream. The concern is, would everyone here actually be interested in the contents of the podcast or would they want to try and redirect the conversation to anime or other unrelated topics.

2020-04-29 13:44:42 +0000 UTCI was probably going to drop to $5 level and add myself to the new one, I'm surprised there was that much resistance to it.
2020-04-29 13:44:33 +0000 UTCMy main complaint was that I couldn't see a point of having a second patreon but I've been convinced so if you do decide to keep the second one you have my support

2020-04-29 13:39:26 +0000 UTCHe would get compensation, it's still Patreon on here so it would not be for free. Clearly there are people who's here that are interested in it and it's not really about the money. It's rather about solid beliefs that you should get everything included in one Patreon. It's like this, if I joined a YouTube membership sub with the understanding that this is where the premium content will be, then suddenly "I'm going to put this content over on this other channel" become a member there to experience it. It's just not something that sits well with a lot of people I think? At least not with me. Now, I know Curtis. I'm fully aware that he's not trying to take advantage of us or anything remotely close to that. I just don't think that plan was a good idea, the livestream is also not a good representation of the GOOSH. Far to many there are not Patreons or missed it.
2020-04-29 13:33:12 +0000 UTCThat's something I'd like to do, BTG, but unfortunately, I can only link one Patreon account to my Crowdcast account where we do the live streams. This would be the perfect solution if that was not the case.

2020-04-29 13:16:19 +0000 UTCI would prefer to have it all on one Patreon. It would easier to control and maintain for you. And it could expand people who just like anime or live-streams to cross over and watch your other content.
2020-04-29 13:02:36 +0000 UTCI agree with Christopher's opinion above. If I remember from the livestream the new patreon was going to be five bucks or something. You could include the podcast at that tier on the Goosh and see if the podcasts can stay more on topic. With regards to people who don't want the podcast in their inbox I'm not sure the tier breakout of the Goosh (how many people are in what tiers), but if many of those people are in the $1 tier then it wouldn't be as large of an issue.

2020-04-29 12:59:16 +0000 UTCMy comment has vanished form the original post so i shall repeat it here. I don't really mind a second patreon if you keep it to the political debate type thing. However if you were to start including anime or anything we get on this current channel in the podcasts or posts over there I would consider it a bit of a slap in the face. I would really enjoy having more discussion here about the animes currently being watched or anything along them lines, the reactions are great but we only get 30 or so seconds of you discussing them at the end of each one. As far as the pop culture topics again I think they would fit in really well here. I would also hope that if you did commit to a second patreon it wouldn't take away from any of the content we have already signed up for here. I find it hard to believe that wouldn't take away from content here, considering that i'm sure there would be a good chunk of the patrons here also sub to the second patreon and want to talk anime or if someone paid for the $125 or $250 tier you set up say they wanted to discuss anime. Obviously that person will have paid a big chunk of money and seems fair that they can get what they want over there but won't that defeat the whole purpose of making a community on this channel?

2020-04-29 12:59:06 +0000 UTCTo me personally it doesn’t make that much of a difference. But I don’t think people understand why? Like if you get people listening to your podcast about politics, it’s less likely for them to stay and take it seriously if they see a post lavishing about anime tiddies right below it. And at the same time, it’s very clear what the 5 dollars buys, and we get that. Literally at least an hour worth of content per day, along with a backlog of content you’ll never entirely get through. I feel that when you’re adding new content that has its own overhead and it’s own time cost -you’re doing more work- then you should be able to put a price on that. And 2 dollars a month... I’m not rich or anything, just in a decent financial spot, but even when I was working a Pizza Hut 2 dollars a month would not have killed me and if it is then an argument can be made that maybe you shouldn’t be using money on Patreon at all yknow? Personally, and this is where i veer from evidence deep into personal opinion, but personally I think anyone that really wants the discussion would be happy to put the two dollars in to make them happen, and maybe some of the people who won’t are people who are a lot less interested but just don’t like the “idea” of missing out, kind of “I want my cake but not to eat it” kind of thing. I am echoing this sentiment from the stream but I’m of the staunch belief that If you’re offering a new product with its own associated cost then you’re allowed to ask for compensation in regards to that. And I know you’d give it away for free if you could, but at the end of the day you’re taking nothing away, just adding for those who want it while expanding your brand to encompass some new material that doesn’t really incorporate into discussions about anime tiddies

2020-04-29 12:58:43 +0000 UTCWhat if you host them separately to Patreon, and include it in both Patreon's benefits? That way, those that only want the podcast sign up to one, and those that want everything sign up to the Goosh?
