I feel like people forget sometimes that C.C. isn't entirely cold and logical and emotionless like she presents herself to be. I've always believed her contract with Mao started out with good intentions. I think she related to his circumstances and wanted to do right by him... at least up until the end goal, which she realized at a point that he was too far gone to ever fulfill. I don't think her 'cruelty' was abandoning him out of petty revenge. Her request to try and talk him down at the end is proof enough to me that she does STILL care about him. I think C.C. leaving Mao alive when she broke off their contract was just a matter of her not being able to bring herself to kill him, which would have been the kinder thing in this case.

The animators, as you can expect, devoted so much energy to ensuring the beauty of the boobies that they overlooked that she was supposed to have been shot in the stomach. So Ohgi magically healed a gutshot with the power of removing her clothes. Truly a man among men.

2020-04-23 17:49:40 +0000 UTCLelouch was truthful in saying C2 was cruel. We see now Mao was a literal child when C2 bound the contract on him. Hearing all those voices would make anyone mad but especially a child. But C2 acting like a mother/lover figure to him always coddling him (he has the voice clips for a reason) but then abandoning him when he wasn't able to fulfill the contract fast enough for her. He even has the speech of a childlike person. Mao was a child experiment for C2 what was thrown aside when he was broken like a toy left in the street rather than bare minimum thrown in the garbage.
