I remember my first time watching this episode, even though I knew there were some episodes after (40-50 some since I was almost caught up at this point 10 years ago) I was still half expecting the "To Be Continued" card at the end to say "The End"!

The last scenes always gets to me even though I've seen them several times already. Seeing Luffy's pain as his friends vanish before his eyes one by one as he can do nothing is so brutal. Just know that the "fun" is just beginning.

first of all that thumbnail, if that aint the most youtube shit you've ever seen :P what I loved about this is it highlighted luffies worst fear, not being strong to protect those close to him and showing just how as each crew member vanished the reality of it just kept hammering at him until it broke him to the point he had to plead to the stronger person to stop. Oda is so brutal with the way he does things but they lead to some of the most powerful moments in this series the man is just too good.

This is one of the best and most painful episodes of One Piece. It shows just how brutal the world of big shots like the Admirals and Warlords is, and how far Luffy still has to go. The bubble bursting to represent the crew disappearing is a pretty fitting metaphor
