Also the introduction of the eyepatch Captain, who interestingly enough shares the VA with Jiraya, was hilarious, he's my favorite captain

But the creator of bleach, Kubo, loves designing what he thinks is cool clothing (i think he even has a clothing line before). So unlike a lot of anime and cartoons where characters tend to have one or two outfits they wear all the time the cast of Bleach always seem to change clothing in general not just for certain situations. You see it alot in the living characters who aren't shimigami. Even Rukia wore different things when human. Its another way Kubo stood out and made the series feel a little different.
