Whatever her flaws, I totally agree with Carmilla that Hector, Isaac, and Dracula are manchildren, disguising deep-rooted issues they couldn't get over with seemingly noble intentions, taking it out on thousands of other people. A bit like Erwin when you think about it. However, unlike him, they also managed to fool themselves into believing in those noble intentions.
