You might already have heard this but I haven't seen anyone say it clearly. This is not the end of berserk. it continues well on in the manga. I suggest doing a reading/reaction of said manga if you have time, most reactors do after finishing the anime. Trust me, its worth it.

I'm waaaaay late but just to make it seem a little worse (spoilery but not really) that mark applies to his soul as well, so even after he dies weather by unnatural causes or not his soul will be theirs for eternity. Love everything you do and have a good day

For sure, he should watch recaps, I'm sure there are some good ones out there. Though I'd prefer him to read the manga, if he can't, that would be a good alternative.

The blooper reels for both the 97' series (and the movie) may help to take the edge off. They are also by far (in my opinion) the funniest outtakes of any dubbed series I've ever seen.

Spoiler Casca was already impregnated by Guts so the child growing inside of her was corrupted by Griffith. However lets just say not all is lost. A child will always yearn for their parents. https://i.redd.it/hm2kb80epdoy.png

if the cgi didn't brother you, you should do the new berserk anime , it takes place after the movie, its guts going after griffith not going say anymore don't want to spoiler to much.. if not that anime i rec devil man crybaby , it is crazy and F up like berserk , if you want to replace berserk with another F up anime , i rec that anime.. very good and F up,

On the whole griffith thing. I think it is just as much what he became during his campaign and during the year of torture that made him ready for this. He had a lot of building up, to a being that was already pretty much beyond any mortal... Hell his last battle was defeating 30000 men with 5000. And then falling down to a person that anyone would pity, unable to do anything himself, barely capable of taking his own life. Everything was setup perfectly for this. Especially when you add that he had gotten a reason to put all the blame on his best friend. None of this excuses everything, but this was a very different griffith than episode 1.

If you think about guts at the end here, it becomes pretty clear why the series is called berserk. Especially when we add that he is generally walking around killing the monsters that ate his friends as was shown in episode 1.

You should also watch the 100 man slayer part of the movies, it is a really good and hype moment that is mostly done better in the movie. Not many moments are better in the movie, but that one is... Also, i am pretty irritated being this late to the party, all the good points have been made...

And now for my final thoughts. First of all your right; Slan needs to shut the fuck up with her pontification. I hate all the god hand but for some reason I have always hated Slan the most. At least the rest of them can shut up some times. Slan just goes on and on about "oh how beautiful! the suffering, the love, the hatred" and bla bla bla shut your whore mouth Slan. Nobody cares. I will clear up a few things just in case they were a little vague. That guy who rescued them is the Skull Knight, and he is the enemy of the GodHand. Because of the Brands Guts and Casca will be attacked every night unless they are in a place protected by elf magic.

Poor Corkus, he died wanting to believe it was all a dream. Though honestly, can you blame him?
Pippin went out a standout guy, it's a shame he ended being used as a pawn to lure Guts into a trap.
Gaston had actually closed his beloved tailor shop to rejoin the Hawks in rescuing Griffith. The movie doesn't show it but the series and I'm pretty sure the Manga. Show him having a weird tiny demon burst out of his skull.
Judeau was another standup dude. He died trying to save Casca. I feel like you didn't really pick up on it Curtis. But he was actually in love with Casca, he didn't pursue it because he knew she loved either Guts or Griffith. He died regretting that he didn't tell her. Of all the Hawks his death hit me the most.
Then we come to Casca, who suffered a fate no one ever should. Something so terrible that it drove her insane. Also they don't show in the Movie or the Anime, but in the Manga. Griffith actually did impregnate Casca, with some kind of weird fetus monster. Which Guts promptly tried to kill, while Casca (in her infantile state) tried to protect it. The offspring disappears shortly afterwards.
Glad that you watched this series and sorry that you had to endure the Eclipse. It's great writing but it's also incredibly hard on the reader's emotions.

Curtis, when you said griffith impregnated casca you were half right. Casca was already carrying guts child before shit hit the fan & griffith did what he did, so when griffith stuck it in her, guts child became a demon child.

Curtis, I suggest you watch the original Episode 25 in your own time for consistency and cool ending shot similar to this movie you just watched. Plus, rewatch Episode 1 so you see it in a new light since it takes place after the horrible events you've witnessed. You'll really appreciate it since you'll understand why Guts is so tortured and badass in Episode 1.

Yes, as I mentioned above, I knew that, no matter what I chose, there were going to be people with issue to me wanting to see the entirety of the ending, due to the lack of aesthetics in the movie. Unfortunately, I thought that the reaction was the focal point of these, and so getting to see the reaction to all might be better.

Thanks for another great series, I'm sure you've already guessed it by now but this whole series is just the backstory of Beserk and it's called the "Golden Age Arc", the manga pretty much begins after this point following the story you saw in ep 1. Telling the story of the Black Swordsman, it's a short while before they even tell you the backstory and of course after this arc they pretty much just pick up where the story had left off. The story began in 1989 and is still continuing to this day so for anyone following along and has just watched this for the first time you should really check out the manga because this is only the start of a much larger story.

The eclipse is the ending of the golden age and the beginning of a much larger story. Griffith has become Femto, Casca has lost her mind, and Guts has turned into the Black Swordsman. As mind blowing as that all was the golden age is only a quarter of the story that the manga tells.

Now imagine watching this and going crazy because you didn't know manga was even a thing. I watched this as a kid and didn't find out it had a source material until like 5 years later. Then of course I had to join the rest of the fans in waiting for the anemic release schedule. I recommend checking out the movies if you have not already done so, they really do a fantastic job on the fight scenes. And then I recommend either reading the manga or checking out the 2016 anime, just so you can see all the cool stuff that happens afterwards. This whole arc is basically an extended flashback to what is happening in the meat of the story.
