Jesus. I’m late to the party but as a manga reader, what the hell guys. You couldn’t wait till the finale to talk about people surviving impossible shit? Or major mindfucks coming up later? The fat lady was literally just about to cun and you just prematurely soiled the contractions for everyone. Edit: for some reason I thought I was being clever with that analogy but after watching the finale again after a decade it was a VERY poor choice of words.

Here we go again. I usually don't have to hard a time avoiding spoiling shit but, you have no idea how much I wanted to talk about this fucking ending. Having seen the eclipse a couple of times I'm pretty familiar with the introduction of the Godhand to the point where its almost like greeting old friends (or more accurately asshole relatives that you hate having over who shit all over your life choices and eat all your food.) The naked chick is Slan, Brain dude is Void, the one with shades is Ubik, and the really fat one with the god awful voice is Conrad. There designs have always reminded me of the cenobites from the movie hellraiser. The best part about this ending is that no matter what kind of terrible ending you could have predicted for this series the real one is 100% worse. To this day every time I see this and the next episode I ask myself what the fuck Miura was thinking when he wrote this shit. No other piece of fiction has ever managed to not only upset me on such a deep level, but completely fascinate me with just how well written and executed it is. Seriously Props to Kentaro Miuri for thinking this shit up, but also fuck that guy for doing this to me.

I love how when Griffith's getting that mindfuck. They reveal that the old lady is just two members of the Godhand in a really shitty costume. It's kind of funny, but at the same time tragic. Largely because Griffith fell for it.

Curtis, do you remember the narrator who talks before each episode and also talks during the previews of future episodes? That narrator is the brain dude who was in this episode. I'm not sure if next episode will mention this, but he's leader of the God Hand and he's called Void.

I like to think that griffith was not fully aware of what he was doing before the godhand made the truth clear. He thought of it as other people joining him to fulfill their dreams, but in the end he was still offering up those peoples lives to fulfill his ambition. He was willing to pay in other currencies, but that was the main currency that he kept spending. When the world was finally put in those terms, that pushed him to take the last step. It is also worth mentioning that there were a few signs that griffiths opinion of himself is not all that good, he is talking about how is he turns back now then all the things he has already given would be for naught. Making it clear that he sees those as horrible costs.

Put bad animation aside, feel like newcomers might get confused, berserk 2016 skips a entire arc from the manga and leaves out ALOT of material, just my opinion though

Curtis, I know it's gotten a bad rap, but will you consider watching the 2016 Berserk series. The animation is not what fans were hoping for but it does pick up directly after this series, and you'd probably enjoy it. You get to see Guts go full on monster slaying bad-ass like in the very first episode.

It is worth mentioning that it is unclear how a behelits owner is chosen and some seem to possibly be multiple use. The behelits are generally still pretty mysterious.

*SPOILER FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVENT FINISHED BERSERK* Thought I'll clear things up and explain so newcomers don't feel lost or confused (like I was lol) Behelits (that red egg thingy) are the keys to open the gate between the human world and the bottom of the Astral world, where the God Hand reside( those creepy demons talking to Griffith). They belong to their destined owners and cannot be permanently lost or discarded until they have been used. When the destined person's desire to escape his current situation is great enough, the behelit will find its way to him or her, and call forth the God Hand to grant the wish with a fitting sacrifice. When this happens, the facial features of the behelit rearrange to form a face, crying blood and screaming. So willingly, Griffith chose to sacrifice the band of the hawk for his dream.

Zodd : If you think this man your friend, know this: when you regard one another as brother, and this man's ambition crumbles, it is your destiny to face your death! You cannot escape your fate! Now we finally understand what Zodd meant.
