I think this arc is what made a LOT of fans have Zoro as their favorite character. This is the first time you see him actually acting out his role of First Mate, keeping everyone in line and radiating authority. If someone turns traitor, he would have little problem cutting them down like he is prepared to do to Robin if she turned out to be their enemy.

I never got to comment on this when it happened (thanks patreon for declining my card) but personally i never blamed Usopp for his reaction. Do i agree with it? Not really, but i do understand him. As much as he overreacted to the situation, Luffy fucked up equally as much. Luffy is a good character, flawed shonen protagonist ofc but a good character. And a great friend to have on your side when shit goes down, but as a Captain? He's pretty much a failure. He has no idea how to be a proper Captain, he just wings it as he goes along, barely ever listens to his crewmembers and brings them into life or death situations on a whim. But even all this can be chalked down to most of his crewmembers being monsters in strength so hes okay with it, but he lacked any and all tact when breaking the news to Usopp. "Hey i know how after repeatedly being the laughing stock of the crew, beat to a near death pulp plenty of times, living in the shadow of almost everyone else in the crew and now finally losing 200 million berries that was supposed to fix the ship your love interest gifted to us and took us on every journey so far you must feel like a total worthless wreck. But uhhhh i've decided to abandon the Going Merry without talking it over with you, the person who holds it the dearest, and get us a new ship. Kay? Kay" As much as Usopp overreacted Luffy deserved what happened next, especially after thinking he has the right to be angry in that situation, or going as far as to say Usopp should just go if he doesn't like his great opinion. As much as i think the shipwrights are correct, Luffy handled the entire situation in the shittiest way possible.

Yeah I think Zoro is the perfect Vice Captain. If he was like Luffy, I don't know where we would be lol.

I know other people have commented already about it but: 1) Franky and the Franky Family aren't pirates, they're bounty hunters (like Zoro before he joined Luffy) and are usually seen as the neutral-good guys by society and the World Government. 2) The Straw Hats, despite all the good we have seen them do and the kinds of people we know they are, are known throughout the world as up and coming pirates with a high collective bounty. Even though we know they wouldn't do things like pillage and plunder, that's typically what is associated with "Pirates". 3) I understand tit for tat 100% and agree with you on it, but the way Franky and pretty much all of Water 7 see it, the Straw Hats already threw the first punch or the "tit" by proxy of just being pirates and the punch back or the "tat" is Franky and his family hunting them for their bounties and taking their stuff. Also yeah, Franky and his family's antics are pretty funny and at this point in the story all you want to see him get some smackdown XD

Franky isn't a pirate. He leads a gang of bounty hunters who capture pirates and he also does old ship demolition as well. Remember, most pirates are assholes. The strawhats are just the exception. From the city's perspective, Franky's the good guy. That's probably why they tolerate him so much. That whole tit for tat thing is true though,

I had trouble following that, but what I was saying is, if you take an action against someone, you can't be surprised when they swing back. Legal or illegal has nothing to do with it. It's just tit for tat... And yea, if you punch someone, you deserve to get hit back. Generally, there isn't a huge conversation about whether the first blow was warranted or not, it's just retaliation.

Franky isnt a pirate? Doing some questionable things, sure but not a pirate. Legally speaking Franky wasnt wrong, nothing they do to the strawhats is illegal. What they do to Franky and his people, is. Not to say he did nothing wrong or anything. He is in the business of bounty hunting so in that field he should expect some retaliation. But if you punch a bad guy for being a dick, what he deserves, and then he punches you back. Sure, you might see it coming but it doesnt make it right, he deserved to get hit, you didnt deserve to get hit back. Not that the strawhats are dicks, they are pirates though
