Yes that's the most common theory about the true power of the arrow, but Chariot Requiem already had the same powers when Polnareff tried to retrieve the arrow from behind some furniture. My guess is that at this moment Polnareff's wish was to be able to get the arrow back but since he was in a weelchair he couldn't, so the arrow gave Chariot the soul-swaping power so Polnareff could swap with the functionnal body of a farmer.

well, a death doesn't need any reason except for being devastating to the main characters. Narancia simply died in combat, it happens a lot in anime. Some of the saddest deaths in anime didn't do anything to further the plot.

I'm not big into flowers but I have read somewhere that those white flowers over Narancia's body symbolize innocence, if it's true it's a really neat detail for our best boy.

Narancia's death was one of very few moments I consider bad writing in JoJo's. Completely senseless– did nothing to further show the power of the enemy or further the plot. It's like Araki said, "You know what, there's not enough death here. I'll add a 2 minute part where Narancia talks about pizza and Fugo and then kill him."

I just want to clarify this: The arrow didn’t switch their souls, it simply gave that ability to Chariot. It think it was confirmed that the arrow gives the user the power they need at that specific moment when they gain the power. Polnareff needed to live so that he could explain the situation and he needed the arrow to be safe from Diavolo, thus Chariot Requiem’s abilities were born to do so.
