There are two side parts to death note that the original series doesn’t show you that I would recommend. There is, of course L’s funeral scene and L’s monster speech. Both are very enjoyable!

I kinda wanted to see more about the gold jewelled encrusted skull shinigami his voice and design is pretty cool. The way he's portrayed he isint the king but other shinigami go to ask for advice so perhaps he is one of the older or wise ones.

He survived just like everyone in that room He alone didnt survive by asspull. The charges were placed mostly on the outside of the building. Giving mellow either a chance to escape or trap people in who dont know how to get out. It would be asspull if it wasnt established Mellow like L plans ahead alot.

Mellow escaped because as you can see the blast charges were placed on the outside of the building mostly. No one in that room died from the blast. Just injured. Those officers were the Kira investigation crew Matsuda was in the room for example and we see him bandaged up.

Hey Curtis, not really related to the video, but I just wanted to say that I was rewatching your Code MENT reactions from 2017 because I enjoyed them so much, and I wanted to ask if you might take some time out of your schedule to react to the Fate/Zero abridged, called "Fate/Cero"? It's a very well-produced abridged series. Absolutely hilarious, and it has the same guy in it who made Code MENT, Purpleeyeswtf, as a profanity-spewing madman. He even brings out his patented N-word (beeped, though). It also has the guy who voices Alucard in the Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. It's really funny even if you haven't seen the original show. The outtakes are hilarious, too. You should check it out some time.

Mellow survived by a big asspull and that is juts how the second season goes. There are gonna be some stupid mistakes made and a lot more asspulls for the sake of the plot

Viewers always seem to forget Light is saving the world. His selfishness is to protect Kira, the one saving hundreds or thousands of innocent lives. Nothing has changed since the beginning. Light NEEDS to think selfishly in order to save the world. Its not derangement, its necessary for the greater good.

To be fair a lot of people survived the blast. But also he's not invincible. Anyway Mello is definitely one of my favorite characters, just as determined to catch light as L and like L he has similar lack of regard for human life but to a greater extreme. All for the sake of catching Kira not for justice but just because he wants to be the best. It's a very interesting dynamic to me that I think the series needed
