So when the story is explaining some cultural facts about the places they're visiting, it's usually pretty accurate and something he learned while actually visiting the place.

As far as Hol Horse, I think he was in the same boat as Polnareff and just got tricked by a pretty face, and Dios followers dont all necessarily know each other
