Waltz for Venus is probably in my top 5 but definitely top 10 bebop episodes it gets me every time too the ending with the sister

Yeah, the dialogue with the sister / mom at the end about how "it's okay, if he died he must have been doing something he knew was wrong" is practically identical in both shows

The first episode does the best job of laying the groundwork for the rest of the series: These types of emotional encounters that Spike experiences are just the norm for him and the rest of the Bebop crew.

Anyone else reminded of that episode from Samurai Champloo? The one where the pick-pocket was taking care of his sick mother? Seems the writer has a special place in his heart for these kinds of stories.

bruce lee was 1 of the inspirations used for spike characters, that's why you will see many similaritis in the fighting style

Move like water is Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do in a nutshell. That is the martial art Spike uses which is why he uses so many quick movements and his environment like tables to fight. Its meant to be a style not stuck in forms because Bruce realized you can't just do forms like a computer in a real fight you gotta move with the flow.
