But when the Emperor who was supposed to basically be followed like a deity on earth and the shogunate heard about people becoming Christians it was outlawed and was punished serverly. Their was even a small war / battle with the Christian japanese fighting for freedom it was quickly snuffed out. So putting a stone of Jesus and making people step on it was a way to see of they were Christian. That old woman was saying her last prayer while taken away ect. Also the the biggest screw u was that priest guy was japanese and wasn't even Christian. So it wasn't like someone just had the wrong views on the teachings ect. 100% using people scam
