Well their only way off the island would have been on the wires that those uhh... tram things? I can't think of the name - and if they both used those (assuming Mai could even run up them like Ty Lee could) there wouldn't be anything stopping the guards from cutting the lines this time.

I had always wondered about that scene right after Azula got chi blocked. They got captured by the prison guards way to easily. I mean in the drill episode tye lee took down a whole platoon of earth bender soldiers and we saw how mai immobilized a bunch of guards to free the gondola. I understand that for the sake of plot they had to get captured, but i just wish it was more realistic to their characters. As badass as those two are, it should have been more like kill bill. With less blood of course and a slightly different end result.

I actually doubt she was going for lightning🤔 She was in the middle of the attack when Ty Lee stopped her and as we know lightning needs be prepared beforehand. You can't just shoot it🤔 Or so I recall

I'd have to disagree, I'd say she was definitely friends with Azula but she chose her greater allegience Not normal friends of course, Azula cant have normal friends, but still something there

Alright, now comes the crazy stuff where Azula losses her stability and Team Avatar makes a plan. These next episode are by far one the most hyped in my opinion. We finally see what the fruits of their labor lead up too.

Sometimes freedom is more important...Also the man was/ is a criminal, so its not like he can't find it in his ability to forget about them. Also, he just got done with an interrogation and didn't want to miss out on the escape plan.

I wouldn’t even say she kept bad company she was friends with azula as a kid and thus was forcibly recruited, it’s funny because while azula is def evil fighting for the fire nation doesn’t make you evil necessarily

Don't think it's a spoiler to say that THIS is the moment that drove Azula off the deep end. You can see it in her expression when she was about to take down Mai.. that's the first time you've ever seen her pissed.

I don't think Ty Lee's heart was in it. Stopping Azula was an act of desperation, because she was certain Azula was about to kill Mai. After doing that, you can see she was obviously terrified. Mai could have continued fighting, but there was no way they could get off the island -- there's no one left to sacrifice themselves to keep the gondola moving. She saved Zuko. There was nothing to gain by fighting on.

Definitely have to respect the warden. He said in the last episode he'd sooner jump in the boiling lake than let someone escape. He definitely put his money where his mouth was when he told them to cut the line with him still on board.

As someone who always liked Zuko I really loved this episode for the stuff between him and Mai and how she came through even talking shit like I'm saving the jerk who dumped me also ty Lee is hilarious and awesome but she wasn't letting azula kill her friend just realized azula was going for her lightning on Mai but lastly zukos huge grin when he sees sokka get roped into a hug with his family zuko I feel was always a cool guy but his loyalty to his country blinded him to the fact they were a bunch of dicks so glad we can finally root for him officially now

To refresh your memory, when Ty Lee joined she initially refused Azula and the entire interaction you could tell that she didn't really see them as friends. The fear and distrust was seeded in that first day at the circus. He betrayal was a surprise but it was so well setup that she followed Azula from fear but was actually friends with May. The storytelling with that group was so well put together.

the thing that always upset me about this episode...they completely forgot about Chit Sang's girlfriend and best friend. wtf?

I always loved how Mai, even being upset with Zuko, doesn’t hesitate at all to step in. And Tai Li’s just a sweet girl who’s kept some bad company. She wasn’t about to let Azula kill her friend
