This is one of the first roles for asta’s VA. You can definitely tell but as the episodes go on he really gets the voice down and its not as obnoxious

I think with Black Clover is that it's not trying to be really original (not that you mentioned originality) or anything special. It's kind of meant to be straight and to the point. It's a very blunt series with the subtlety of a battling ram to the face. I classify BC as that series in which takes common tropes we've scene over and over again, merge them all into one series to simply make a fun series out of it.

currently about 65 episodes in to black clover and honestly it's still kinda meh to me, there's some stand out characters who've become my favourites like a certain black haired mentor character but the issue is black clover is really heavy handed in some of its themes like class disparity, there's some really interesting things at times like character backstories and relationships, but the issue is they're not touched upon enough, they show something really cool and then they pull back from it before you really get a chance to get fully invested. also the animation has had some really nice experimental stuff, then it turns into microsoft paint for one of it's important fights, and I mean bad animation that make nine tails naruto vs pain look good in comparison lol

Asta and Yuno are some of my favorite rivals in anything. They are legit best friends who just so happen to be competitive. They are willing to support and help one another and are not trying to actively screw each other over. They are antagonistic in a way that it's not toxic and is just them mainly trolling each other instead of having any malice behind it.
