I like jet he was a traumatized kid who was lashing out but he was getting better plus he was a badass and his death seemed kinda pointless and he wasn't exactly wrong about iron and zuko or the fire nation as a whole he didnt know that most fire nation civilians were just that civilians all he ever saw were soldiers who in the current regime mostly get promoted to leadership if they're evil dickwads like Cornelius

Hey Curtis I figured you'd like this information on how real life cultures helped to inspire the Air Nomads The Air Nomads are based primarily on Tibetan culture, the Shaolin Monks, and Sri Lankan Buddhism. Other influences are drawn from Hinduism - notably, the seven chakras. Many Buddhist and Hindu groups practice vegetarianism, a trademark of Air Nomad culture. The Air Nomads were a monastic culture: Their bald heads, clothing, and meditation practices closely parallel real-world Buddhist monks. Tibetans use a set of toys to find the next Dalai Lama, which the Air Nomads also use when looking for the new Avatar. Like the Dalai Lama, Aang was the reincarnated spiritual leader of his people. Aang's mentor was named Monk Gyatso and his son Tenzin, which form the real name of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. Aang's clothing in season one and two closely resembles the saffron robes of Shaolin Monks. These were in turn based on the robes of Buddhist monks who visited from India. The architecture of the air temples resembles real-world brick pagodas similar to the famous "Pagoda Forest" of the Shaolin Temple in China. Laghima's Peak contains a small room carved out of the rock itself, which holds an altar dedicated to Guru Laghima, as well as other statues in side niches. This was inspired by a similarly-fashioned room in Paro Taktsang, also known as Tiger's Nest, a Buddhist monastery in the Himalayan country of Bhutan.[31] In season three, Aang wears clothing similar to the Dalai Lama. In Buddhist tradition, the right arm of the Dalai Lama is always kept uncovered. In his late-season three clothing, which is similar in style, Aang's right arm is also uncovered. Monk Gyatso and Aang used airbending to lightheartedly make cakes, much to the chagrin of the other elders. In Tibetan Buddhism, gtor-ma cakes are sacrificial cakes used in ceremonies and play an important role in Tibetan culture. However, these cakes are usually used to appease the more wrathful of Buddhist deities, and would not have been treated in such a cavalier manner.

Yea, I was kinda surprised about your second point, as well. I was first taken aback by how aggressive Aang got towards his friends, but then I tempered that with the knowledge of how much Appa means to him. However, like you, I was really surprised to not see any type of apology.

Ok i do have two complaints about this episode and the events of it. 1. While i know that due to it being a kid's show they couldn't go all out and actually show the rock attack which Killed Jet land the final blow. It sorta just showed the attack being thrown and then the screen goes to black, we come back and he's on his back with where the rock attack a couple feet away from where he landed. Yes its a kids show but that doesn't exempt in from being a flaw as it being aired as a kids show held the show back in this regard. 2. While i understand Aang's anguish at losing Appa that didn't excuse his behavior toward his friends after the fact and so seeing as Aang hasn't apologized for it in this episode (the best time to make that apology) than i can only assume it never happened. So Aang's allowed to treat his friends like crap when things go wrong for hime without a single "i'm sorry" by the end of that set of events. Kinda of a turn off for his character, to me.

I don't know if Jet died here or not... it was pretty vague.

Ever since I started begging for you to watch this show a year or two ago I have been anticipating you getting so attached to the characters and the world. It really is exceptionally written. Besides, you’re pervier Iroh. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch. That’s like calling someone Jesus.

As you've said. the fight choreography in this show is amazing and the crazy part is that it just gets better. I can't describe how amazed I was watching this when it aired to see the fights and animation get so much better over time. Between any cartoons, Japanese of American, Avatar will always have my favorite fights.

Gotta be honest. I love this show, but nothing in this episode made me feel bad for Jet dying. I hated him in his episode. I hated him when he was fighting Zuko. I hated him here. I am glad he is gone. Good riddance Jet. You won’t be missed.

This is not a kids show.

yeah Jet died in this episode, but because of Nickelodeon they couldn't say it outright at the time, here's a little thing from the wiki about it "Bryan and Mike (creator of avatar) explained in the commentary for "The Ember Island Players" that Nickelodeon was against showing kids being fatally wounded or outright killed, especially by a violent attack. It also could not be revealed during the rest of the story, so Toph sensing that Jet was lying about how he would be okay was how they chose to confirm it for the viewers. Also, in the Avatar Extras for "The Ember Island Players", a commentary bubble stated, "For the record: Jet is dead"."

Don't worry, when I first watched this show I was not expecting the fights to be as good as they are. I also wasn't expecting to find the storytelling and the character development to be as good as it is.

Jet dies here they kinda say it in seson 3. But since it was a show aired on a childrens network they cant say he died.

Zuko is probably the best written and most complex character in any show I have ever seen. Can't think of any movies that can compare either, just amazingly written, but most of the characters in this series are amazingly written though.

Iroh’s Speech to Zuko is something every troubled teen needs lol
